Volders acquires Aboalarm

Feb 16, 2023

Berlin/Munich, 16 December 2022 - The digital cancellation service Volders has acquired 100% of the shares in its competitor Aboalarm. The merger creates a new German market leader in the field of cancellations and contract management with a wide range of organic and inorganic growth opportunities.

Volders, founded in 2014, and Aboalarm, founded in 2008, are now leading online platforms for contract management and cancellation. Both companies are represented in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and offer consumers award-winning cancellation services for contracts in areas such as internet, mobile communications, insurance and streaming. Together, the two companies have successfully processed cancellations from over ten million customers. In future, Aboalarm GmbH will be a wholly owned subsidiary of volders GmbH.

With the acquisition of Aboalarm, Volders is focusing on its further growth, which can be realised more quickly thanks to synergies with the former competitor. The now more than 50 employees are working consistently on merging technologies, marketing the three brands Volders (volders.de), Aboalarm (aboalarm.de) and Finlytics (finlytics.de) as well as product development relating to consumers' personal finances. The acquisition will enable the combined company to bring new B2C products to market faster and to further develop the B2B Fintech software Finlytics for partners from the banking and insurance sectors.

As part of the takeover, the companies are publishing financial figures for the first time: Over 110,000 cancellations per month are sent for users. Annual sales in the eight-figure range and positive EBITDA on a monthly basis are achieved.

Jan Hendrik Ansink, founder and CEO of Volders: "Aboalarm is a perfect fit for Volders and the acquisition underlines our declared goal of becoming the leading cancellation service in the German-speaking market. We see a lot of synergy potential in bringing together the experienced teams, strong brands and established products of the two companies. The acquisition is therefore an important step for our further organic and inorganic growth. We are consolidating the German cancellation market and will launch further products relating to consumers' personal finances."
